Francesco Laserra

Early career Clinician Scientist

Francesco Laserra studied Medicine and Surgery at Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan, Italy. Drawn by the complexity and social impact of multiple sclerosis, he attended the Department of Neurology and the Multiple Sclerosis Center of San Raffaele Hospital in Milan. Motivated by a strong interest in basic science, he completed an internship in 2024 at the Institute of Neuroimmunology and Multiple Sclerosis (INIMS), where he investigated neuronal responses to viral infections.

Francesco works as a Clinician Scientist at INIMS within the FOR 5705 NeuroFlame since May 2025, where he is studying how protein production in distinct neuronal compartments changes in response to inflammatory stimuli. He aims to elucidate the role of neurons and neuron-glia crosstalk in an inflammatory context to gain more insight into the mechanisms of neurodegeneration in MS.

Early career scientists

Neuroflame is dedicated to promote early career scientists allowing them to establish their own independent line of research.
