Neuroflame receives DFG funding
The German Research Foundation (DFG) has officially approved funding for the new Research Unit 5705 NeuroFlame – Defence and Demise of Inflamed Neurons for 4 years totalling 7.1 Mio € marking an important milestone for our interdisciplinary team. NeuroFlame investigates how neuroinflammation affects neuronal function and survival, with a primary focus on multiple sclerosis but relevance to a wide range of neurodegenerative, vascular, and traumatic brain diseases. By exploring both the defence strategies neurons deploy against inflammation and the mechanisms that drive inflammatory damage, the Research Unit aims to establish a foundation for the development of broadly applicable neuroprotective treatments. We are grateful for the support of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and look forward to advancing this joint effort and sharing our progress as the projects unfold.
FOR 5705 NeuroFlame is a collaboration between following institutions: - Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) - Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) - Universitätsmedizin Göttingen (UMG) - Universität Heidelberg - Karolinska Institutet (KI) - Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) - Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU)
